Biblical Theology is the study of the biblical texts as we move throughout the Bible. This course will deal with:
1) Exegesis. That is, understanding how to study a text closely and think through what it means in both the original context as well as in our lives today.
2) The development of the covenants. Building upon the Old and New Testament classes, we look at how the symbolism contained in each covenant (circumcision, animal sacrifices, kings, priests, etc.) are perfectly blended and perfected in the work and person of Jesus and how salvation by faith works throughout.
3) Applied biblical theology. Given the above studies, we can begin to discuss important doctrines based on those distinctions. For example, dispensationalism vs covenant vs new covenant theology; pelgianism vs arminianism vs calvinism; and so on.
It is recommended to have taken both the "Old Testament" and "New Testament" courses prior to taking this.
