We cover the Old Testament in a general overview.
Within that framework, we focus on:
1) The people. The Old Testament is filled with all sorts of memorable characters; seeing how God moves within their stories drives the narrative.
2) The history. The history of Israel is filled with many stages; it is vital to understand the journeys of Abraham, the movement of the Exodus, the rise and fall of Israel (and Judah), the exile to Assyria and Babylon, and the return to the Promised Land.
3) The covenants. Seeing the covenants made with God and Adam, Noah, Abraham, David and so on form the legal structure that allows us to understand more
of who God is and sets the scene for the New Testament (and the New Heavens and New Earth!).
This is the introductory course that begins the high school Bible core classes (Old Testament, New Testament, Biblical Theology, and Systematic Theology) and is very useful for the Bible electives as well.
